Posting the series of unreleased songs on facebook has been a wonderful trip down memory lane. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have. It has been a true pleasure to share my musical past with you. Having written 500 songs feels very special, and as you can hear in these examples it's in all kinds of different genres.

Here's the list of all songs, with direct links and the year of recording.

New single - Möten och avsked

Posted at 22:24 under MUSIC, ART, JAPAN

My new single Möten och avsked was released last Monday, December 8.

It's my Swedish translation of Milton Nascimento's classic Encontros e Despedidas, a fantastic song. Singer Nina Ripe has previously released this translation in an acoustic version, on her debut album "Apaixonada".

The song was recorded on the day one year after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, on March 11, in a small recording studio in Shonan, a stone's throw from the Pacific Ocean. The music video above shows Tokyo in the rain.

Kazuya Saka - grand piano
Show Kudo - bass
Kaoru Suzuki - drums
Me - vocals & cavaquinho

Art exhibition setlist

Posted at 23:43 under MUSIC, ART, SETLISTS

Today I did a live performance at the opening of a Christmas exhibition at the newly opened GALLERI MOT STRÖMMEN in Norrköping.

I focused on the Swedish songs from my C'est La Vie album, and threw in a Jobim song (Luiza) for good measure.

I did the gig completely unplugged, without microphone or speakers, and the acoustics in the gallery were awesome (as was the audience!).

1. Balans
2. Skuggor
3. Jabuticaba
4. Luiza (T. Jobim)
5. Changes Changes
6. Det gör ingenting
7. Beautiful Place
8. Passion

The exhibition is open until January 15, so be sure you don't miss it. There are some fantastic paintings and sculptures there!

New website!

Posted at 15:31 under MUSIC, ART

My new website is now up!

For the first time since 2007 when I started a blog separate from the site, the blog is now incorporated in the actual website, with the menus and colors exactly the same.

The new design is also responsive, so will look OK even in phones and on tablet screens. Let me know if something is not working for you, you can send me a message at the contact link in the menu.

And - there's a surprise haiku waiting for everyone entering a mistyped URL or clicking a dead link ;)

New single Out Today!

Posted at 00:18 under MUSIC, ART, MOVIES

My new single is released today!

I GUESS IT'S OK (VAI FICAR TUDO BEM) is a duet with Vanessa Pinheiro (Brazil), performed in English and Portuguese!

If you are subscribing to my newsletter, you may already have heard this duet before, although in a completely different version...

The music video features footage from the 1914 movie Cinderella, with the stunning Mary Pickford doing a touching performance in the lead role. And now, 100 years later, she ended up in my music video... Her acting brings tears to my eyes.

Graffiti + Skandiateatern = RENT

Posted at 11:40 under MUSIC, MUSICAL, THEATRE, ART

This is what the facade of Skandiateatern in Norrköping now looks like, for our production of RENT.

Welcome to Alphabet City, New York. Photo: Hampus Fredriksson.

The graffiti artists have painted the inside of the theater as well, and we have rebuilt the stage to resemble a NY crossing with buildings. We have made RENT more realistic, so our version is grittier and even more touching than the original.

The opening night is sold out. For other performing nights, please book your tickets now:

I am a very very proud Music Director.

This will be an evening you will NEVER FORGET.

Online article about RENT

Posted at 23:37 under MUSIC, MUSICAL, THEATRE, ART

KULTURSIDAN.NU, the Norrköping culture news site, visited one of our rehearsals last week and just published this article. The stage will soon be finished, but it still looks very unfinished in their photos. We're getting closer to New York...

Here's the original article (Swedish):

Rave reviews for RENT

Posted at 16:43 under MUSIC, MUSICAL, ART, THEATRE

We are getting rave reviews for RENT!!!

Note the beautiful set we have built after demolishing the stage of Skandiateatern. Me and the other four guys in the orchestra are sitting inside the building to the right.

Happy New Year!!!

Posted at 17:20 under MUSIC, MUSICAL, THEATRE, ART

Today, NT (Norrköpings Tidningar) posted an article about our work with RENT:

Cast features Linnéa Källström, Felicia Utter, Olle Petersson, Daniel Ivarson, Emil Sandung, Wictor Utter, Johan Ivarson, Lisa Forsman (and Elin Gårdfalk and Otto Pleisner, both missing during the photo shoot).

My hope for 2014 is that it will be as creative and full of action as 2013. I released a new album and did a small Japan release tour, at the same time as we were rehearsing my first musical TIVOLISAGA in Norrköping, Sweden, at Arbisteatern. Following the success of Tivolisaga, we initiated a new Swedish production of RENT, the successful American musical from 1996, and for which we are currently in the middle of rehearsals at Skandiateatern, also in Norrköping.

Being able to work with musicals this past year is one of the most wonderful things I have ever done in music. I have always loved theatre, and I have always loved music, and the chance to put the two together is just really amazing. Working with actors and live music is to me a way of bringing art to life, getting a possibility to touch and move the audience. I am myself sometimes moved to tears while working with RENT, just as I was when we were working with Tivolisaga.

I am truly thankful for every thing and every person who has entered my life in 2013.

May 2014 be a beautiful year for you and your family and loved ones, with health and happiness.

Happy new year!!!
