Horn section

Posted at 15:37 under MUSIC

had a recording session of a trumpet/trombone horn section this week, here's the result. unfortunately with bad sound quality because of my laptop, sorry, but at least it gives you the chance to hear how the horns section really lift the songs.

"BALANS"

will still re-record my vocals and guitar/cavaquinho. and maybe some quca!?!?

"SVAR"

some electric piano and this is done! will do new vocals and cavaquinho.

"KAN VI HJLPA ATT VI LSKAR ATT DANSA"

nice reggae horns... looking forward to do new vocals on this one!

the musicians are:
KARIN HAMMAR - trombone
STEFAN PERSSON - trumpet

karin played on my last cd, but i haven't worked with stefan before. if you can watch swedish tv you can see him play tonight in the show LET'S DANCE. he's previously worked with eric gadd and jennifer brown to name a few....

i'm very happy with the result of this recording. next week there are two sessions, one with bandoneon and one with backing vocals. this is so exciting!!!!!

New versions

Posted at 03:51 under MUSIC

here's new versions of most songs from the coming album. i will still re-record some vocal and guitar parts, and a lot of instruments are still missing, so this is still not the final sound.... still, i hope you'll enjoy it. it's getting closer!!!!

oh, the sound is better now, so you'll hear more of how it's supposed to sound.

"SOM OM INGENTING HAR HNT"
(as if nothing happened)

this song will have new piano, new cavaquinho and new voice, so this is only half-finished.... ALINE DE LIMA has recorded her own version of this song for her new album which is released in APRIL!!!

"ALLT HAR SIN TID"

hope you like the "quica" (brazilian friction drum that sounds like a monkey =) i'll re-record the voice and electric guitar.

"JABUTICABA"

with bird-song from the amazonas and bass. still missing trombone and strings.

"DU DET R OKEJ"

will still have a new piano and better guitar/cavaquinho...

"BALANS"

still missing trumpet/trombone and some other stuff.....

"KAN VI HJLPA ATT VI LSKAR ATT DANSA"

still some details to come....and new voice.

"ETT ENDA LIV"

still missing trombone.... karin hammar will record these parts next week!

"C'EST LA VIE"

still missing bandonen and some piano notes.

"SVAR"

missing important trumpet/trombone section and some electric piano. i'll also re-record the cavaquinho. and the voice.....

"HUR SKA MAN GLMMA"
(how do you forget?)

nice ocean waves help bring the feeling of loneliness. this song is missing bandonen and possibly something more....

well, there's actually one more song, but it's a secret until i release the cd.

please enjoy!! and as usual, please note:

* vocals and many instruments are only Early Production Recordings and WILL CHANGE!
* this is only HALF-finished!
* several instruments are still missing!
* this is UN-mixed!
* this is only for you to follow the progress of the creation of my new album!
* this does not represent the sound or quality of the album!

C'est la Vie

Posted at 20:21 under MUSIC

two more songs from my coming album. the first one is called C'EST LA VIE, and i post almost the entire song because i like it so much (it's one of my own favourites of the new songs). the only missing instrument in this song is the bandonen (tango accordion) which will be played by Mikael Augustsson in a session we've booked in the end of march. i love Olle's bouzouki (greek lute; it's like a big mandolin) playing in this song!

"c'est la vie" is french, and means something like "that's life" or "such is life", a simple but beautiful statement. the song is in swedish, though!

SONG 7 -- "C'EST LA VIE"

the second song is influenced by blues and reggae (samba-reggae??) and i'm using the electric guitar in it again, but in this version it's out of tune, so please have patience hehehe, i will re-record it when i'm in the mood.....

SONG 8 -- "ALLT HAR SIN TID"
(everything has its time)

please enjoy!!!!!

but as usual, please note:

* vocals and many instruments are only Early Production Recordings and WILL CHANGE!
* this is only HALF-finished!
* several instruments are still missing!
* this is UN-mixed!

Jabuticaba

Posted at 13:07 under MUSIC

here's another of the songs i'm working with for the new album, "jabuticaba", named after a fruit from Brazil.

still missing in this song: bass, trombone and strings.

SONG 6 -- "JABUTICABA"

i have another recording session tomorrow with Olle Linder, where the bass for this song will be added. it will be the last session with him, and after that i can continue to the other instruments, like piano, rhodes, trombone & trumpet, bandoneon and strings.

i have usually recorded my voice at the end of the production, this time i'm trying to incorporate it a little more in the sound and record it during the actual sessions. this is to catch a little more spontaneity and make it fit better with the overall sound. and my voice seems to have changed a bit since the recording of BLISSA NOVA, i first noticed this when i was touring in japan.

this is due to several reasons that i'm not going to discuss in detail here, and probably it's mainly just a part of the process of aging! a process which i'm enjoying very, very much.

Music working again =)

Posted at 23:52 under THOUGHTS

the song samples should now be working again, please let me now if you encounter any problems. i changed into a completely new music player for each song, just scroll down to listen at the entries.

i'll soon collect the samples on a page of their own to make it easier to find them, ok? just gimme a coupla days.....

well, i'm sitting here with a big cup of green tea, trying to heal my sore throat from some kind of infection i caught - probably on the england flight - contemplating about mindfulness.

MINDFULNESS is bringing your awareness back into the present, sustaining your attention on a chosen object, without the disturbance of judgments or prejudices.

being mindful is something that has become more and more important to me during the last weeks. the song of a bird, the voice of a child, even the noise from traffic or pouring rain gives us a chance to train this awareness in every moment.

for exemple, instead of swearing over the constant rain, we can focus on the sound of it, how the rain feels in our hair or in our face, or how it makes the street shimmer.

this is one of the corners in buddhism, and one step towards true happiness or bliss. it all comes from inside.

Playback problems

Posted at 17:44

some people are having trouble playing the song samples on this blog, i am sorry for this! this is the unfortunate result of different web browsers, displaying pages and code differently.

i am very sorry for this, and i will replace the PLAY and STOP links later today with proper music players.

thank you for your patience, and once again, sorry!!!!

Hey, it's okay

Posted at 02:16 under MUSIC

another new song.... this is actually an old song that i wrote when i lived in london ages ago. i've always loved this song. it's very simple, practically only 2 chords, maybe that's why....

the original lyric was in english, but this version is swedish just like the other songs from the coming album.

the chorus goes:

IT'S SO EASY TO FORGET
WHEN DREAMING HAS MADE YOU FULL
BUT HEY, IT'S OKAY
IT'S GONNA BE ALLRIGHT

hmm....it sounds better in swedish =)

SONG 5 -- "DU DET R OKEJ"
(Hey, it's okay)

as usual, please note:

* vocals and many instruments are only Early Production Recordings and WILL CHANGE!
* this is only HALF-finished!
* several instruments are still missing!
* this is UN-mixed!

Thankful

Posted at 14:06 under THOUGHTS

yesterday i was walking through central stockholm in a pouring spring rain. and i was overwhelmed by an intense emotion of gratitude.

it was as if the rain had reached inside my jacket and slowly was running down my spine with a chill of wonder.

thankfulness.

suddenly the thoughts about a recent heartbreak didn't feel painful anymore. the negative emotions were transformed into thankfulness. a new perspective reached me, or my old perspective was broadened or widened. to a very vast degree.

we are teaching. we are learning.

something good comes out of everything, but it may take some time before we are distanced enough to see what we have learnt from a specific experience. because there's something to learn from everything.

to embrace that simple truth is all it takes.

nothing happens by coincidence.

and maybe i'm wrong, but everyone i met yesterday in the rain was smiling at me. friendly, happy, peaceful, curious smiles.

life is a journey and i'm incredibly thankful for the teachings i've got from the past year's excursions. life is a school. or, maybe rather a class. a class in a school that is far bigger than our human imagination.

thank you! i love you! walk in peace.

=)
