"We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world."
Love This World is my 12th single. Let me tell you a bit about it, and why I begin this post with a quote (freely translated) from the Dhammapada.
As you may know, it's not a new song. I wrote it when I was living in Tokyo, for my fifth album Beautiful Place, which was released in 2013. I usually described it as a ”mantra for a more peaceful world”. Simple phrases which are repeated to manifest peace around us, because I firmly believe that we create the world with our thoughts. Currently, fear is overwhelmingly predominant in peoples' minds, and that creates a lot of tension in the physical world; War, hate, narrowmindedness, selfishness. That is not the world I want to live in, and that's why I wrote this song, to help people move peace and love into their own lives, minute by minute, day by day.
This new version of the song was recorded in 432hz, which is said to be the vibration of the Universe. Everything in the world vibrates in different frequencies. You can easily see this when you watch an atom in a microscope. When you zoom in close enough all you can see is vibrating matter. That's the world. Everything vibrates. Usually, music is recorded and tuned in 440hz which is a higher and apparently more tense vibration than 432. So I decided to give it a go.
Then, something amazing happened. I'd been crazily busy and hadn't sung a single note for weeks, so my voice was untrained and definitely not fit for recording. But I plugged in the microphone and recorded one take, just to have as a reference while recording the other instruments.
And for the First – Time – Ever when recording vocals, my voice was on pitch and I sang the song straight through without any problems. I never considered myself a good singer, and have always struggled with pitch. Until now.
That first take is the vocals used in the final version, which is now released on all online platforms, such as iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Google Play. I simply couldn't improve that first, spontaneous take. I still remember when I recorded it, I was almost moved to tears because the experience was so effortless.

My Japan-themed musical Peach has been selected for a pitching slot for next years BEAM:2016 showcase of new musical theatre writing.
So I am looking for a librettist to help me reform and rewrite the libretto and the dialogues. It's preferable with someone with insight and understanding of Japanese/East Asian culture as I'm very very eager to avoid Asian sterotypes.
Peach is a 'modern-day Cinderella' set mostly in Japan to the backdrop of the financial crisis.
I write music and lyrics. I've written loads of songs for this show, 2 hours to be exact but I understand the lyrics needs to be rewritten as we rewrite the book, and it definitely needs new songs, more natural ensemble numbers, etc, as 20 of the songs I've already written need to be cut.
However, I really believe in this musical, and so did the jury selecting it to be one of the shows to have a 10-minute pitch slot on 4 November at Park Theatre, London.
Here is a demo reel, with old lyrics:

Japanese singer Hana Chiba has passed away. My heart is bleeding.
We never got the opportunity to work together in this life, even though there were plans. Your time was too short.
This is how you'll be remembered:
And Hana-chan... I will name a star in the sky after you.

My new single Möten och avsked was released last Monday, December 8.
It's my Swedish translation of Milton Nascimento's classic Encontros e Despedidas, a fantastic song. Singer Nina Ripe has previously released this translation in an acoustic version, on her debut album "Apaixonada".
The song was recorded on the day one year after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, on March 11, in a small recording studio in Shonan, a stone's throw from the Pacific Ocean. The music video above shows Tokyo in the rain.
Kazuya Saka - grand piano
Show Kudo - bass
Kaoru Suzuki - drums
Me - vocals & cavaquinho

Here's another live video from Rinshi no Mori Park in Tokyo. This time it's my English translation of Eu Vim da Bahia by Gilberto Gil (I Came from Bahia). The cicadas seem a little bit more quiet in this one!
Filmed live in August 2013.

Here's a video of me performing Changes Changes live in my favorite park in Tokyo. The cicadas are overwhelmingly noisy, and made your ears ring when you left the park.
Still hope you will enjoy it =)

Finally, finally, finally....
Beautiful Place is available here:
Tower Records Japan
There was an outstanding review in DACAPO Web Magazine, the website of one of Japan's leading magazines, DACAPO.
Unfortunately in Japanese - as google translation is awful... But give it a try if you have some imagination:
The headline and the first sentence include words like "Summer's best" and "Career masterpiece..."
... the rest is up to google translation, or your Japanese skills!
